1. Not Drinking Enough Water

The stool becomes hard and dry if you are not drinking enough water throughout the day. For proper digestion, water plays an important role. Do you know that daily you should drink 2 and a half liter of water? Sure, you are not drinking this much water which is one of the common causes of constipation. Actually, in human, the length of small intestine is about 20-22 feet and large intestine is about 6 feet. To clean your stomach and intestine drinking more water is necessary.

To avoid constipation drinking 2-3 glasses of warm water early in the morning on an empty stomach is the best practice. If possible drink only lukewarm water throughout the day.

2. Not Chewing Food Properly

Eating fast is also one of the common causes of constipation. Basically when you chew your food completely the saliva in the mouth mix with it which plays an important role to digest food by 50%. But when you eat fast without chewing your food properly the workload of the stomach increases which leads to indigestion, constipation, bloating, acidity and gas.

Hence to avoid constipation chew food properly and slowly.

3. Poor Lifestyle and Diet

Due to fast and busy lifestyle, the habits of eating and drinking has been changed. The major causes of constipation due to poor lifestyle is as follows.

  • Junk food,
  • Smoking, alcohol
  • Dairy Products
  • High sugar and fatty food
  • Tea and coffee
  • Not taking a good sleep
  • Not including fiber in your diet

If possible avoid all this and include more food which contains more fiber. Include vegetables, brown rice, wheat instead of white bread, white rice and dairy products. But include plain yogurt after having your lunch. It will digest your food properly.

4. Too Much Stress, Tension

Due to a busy lifestyle, working load or social issues you are suffering from stress, tension or depression. If yes then definitely it will lead to constipation. According to the research, stress is also one of the common causes of constipation.

To avoid stress, practice pranayama (breathing exercises) daily. If possible wake up early in the morning and go for basic exercises like fast walking.

5. Over Use of Laxative

To clean your stomach If you are taking laxatives daily then it becomes a habit. After few days, your intestine becomes insensitive to laxatives. You will find difficult to clean your stomach on regular basis. Hence it best to avoid overuse of laxative.

Hence always consult your doctor before taking any laxative.
